This evening my nice old neighbor lady called me over to look at the wall of her bedroom. In the middle of the wall was a spot of ice, about the size of a cube, just stuck to the wall. It was about 6 feet up the wall, and about 18 inches to the left of the window. Our weather has been warm, but very wet here in VA. I dont know what could be running up through the wall to cause such an occurance. There is a a/c vent just below the spot on the floor, but that doesn’t strike me as something that could cause this poltergeist. Other than moving her TV into the closet, I don’t have any ideas for her. Anyone out there ever seen such a thing?

Check the air conditioner coils to see if they are frozen. Does a condensation line run anywhere near the cool spot?

Funny. You don't usually see that kind of behavior in a major appliance.
You're unique! Just like everyone else! Scott Adams
I dunno but the HVAC vents in my basement project scared me last week ...
it's been rainy/humid most days ...
I walked thru ... saw a drip line of water under one ... the noticed it .. thet metal cover .. was cover in "water" ... my mind jumps tp worst case senerio ... I'm think water line upstairs burst ... then .. I look and see the same deal on the opposite wall ...
That's when I remembered I'd been cutting out on the patio .. and the door had been open for most of the morning ... and it was humid as hell .. and the AC was clowing as close as could be ...
So ... I decided to take lunch!
Wiped the walls down ... made sure the door was closed tight behind me ...
when I got back ... no signs of trouble. Was just real heavy condensation...
I wonder if you had the same thing .. but with a cold source at that point on the wall?

My vote would be for an air conditioner line running behind the wall. The frost would probably suggest that the AC is low on freon.
All great thoughts. I will probably look from the crawlspace to see if there is some refrigerant line running up into the wall...
A thought just ran through my head. I wonder if the spot is caused by a refridgerant LEAK.
If a little bit of freon was spraying out against the wall, that could definitely cause an ice spot.I could really get some work done, if my customers would just leave me alone.
Of course, if that is the case it will become obvious in a day or two when the AC quits working.
How about listening very carefully for the sound of a refrigerant leak?
