Just wanted to show a project I’ve been working on between classes. It’s a suite of offices for a clinical psychologist. It’s sort of an essay on creating as nice a space as possible for dirt cheap–making creative use of mostly generic, inexpensive materials from the DIY chain store across the street.
This all started out as a cluster of really seedy 1970’s offices–nicotine stained walls and disgusting suspended ceilings.
I did the design work and quite a bit of the labor–gutting, construction, cabinetry…just about all me except for wiring, mudding, carpet and paint. Everything in these photos is new except for the sheetrock on a few of the walls that we kept. This is the first time I’ve done a lot of this work, and I just sort of tried to figure things out as I went along. A good project to cut my teeth on.
The Dr. overrode me with the shag carpeting–I pushed long and hard for cork tile. And I hate her furniture. When I have more time I’ll go up there and re-photograph everything with my wide-angle lens and my own Corb chairs. :- )

Tuffy,
That looks Nieeese, I love that door in the private office. Is that a standard Luan skin? How did you finish it?

I like how the lobby indirect lighting differs from the therapy rooms. Are the lobby boxes 1x attached to the drywall?
Looks like everything turned out very well. Congrats!
