Ok its my turn to ask. I’m an electrician (used to work as a carpenter though) and need to frame in a load bearing wall in my basement. 2×4, 16″ OC, 2 story above, PT bottom plate on concrete slab. What size anchor bolts into the slab? I can glue them in or use expansion bolts.
I’m framing up under a 4×6 header turned sideways, that has one post in the middle of a 14 ft span. This is a 1913 house, good thing it was built with a lot of old growth doug fir.

Unless this is a seismic shear wall (something I know nothing about) I see no need to use anchor bolts. You can glue the bottom plate down with PL Premium, nail it with cut nails, shoot it with powder, drill in 1/2" Hilti wedge bolts, set Tapcons, or any combination thereof.
The purpose of anchor bolts is to hold down against uplift from wind on perimeter walls. The odds of wind creating that kind of uplift on an interior basement wall on a house this old is on a par with that of piffin becoming king of russia.
I'd shoot it with my remington gun. Jeff.......Sometimes on the toll road of life.....a handful of change is good.......

what are your standards?
Do you need to please a building inspector?
How is the rest of the house fastened?
My home counts on gravity to hold it in place,
The new part has 1/2" J bolts every 4 feet the J is wired under the rebar two pieces down.
I'm building the thing so that it will still be here when the level 5 tornado blows through......
(the fact that nothing higher than a level three has ever hit in Minnesota isn't very important)
Give me a few good Prussians and I could rule the world!
I believe that with it secured with PL Premium, the studs would separate from the plate before the plate would moveExcellence is its own reward!
A couple of bolts are not a bad idea since it keeps the wall in place if you run a load of lumber or a cart into it but it also helps the next owner know that it is a "special" wall when they what to remodel and/or remove it.
