Sounds like someone up above was looking out for him.
I hate those stories...

Its very hard to grow, because it's difficult to let go of the models of ourselves in which we invested in so heavily

Say I am a skeptic. I couldn't read the text in that article. Only if they could show me a frontal radiograph, I would just assume it's a ear piercing at a body art parlor gone bad. If that article is genuine, I sure wish him well.

The hardest part, she said, is he was not insured for the job he was performing. According to Ben, he did have insurance, but for this particular job he was listed as a sub-contractor, and was not covered under his insurance.

40 foot fall, probably one lucky SOB!!
I fell 25' once, hit feet first, smashed 5 vertabra, nothing but a little discomfort now and then, doc said I was very lucky...... I thought if I was some damn lucky I wouldnt have fallen.
I realize now that I was very lucky, funny how some fall 8' and paralized for life and others fall 40' and come out just a little worse for the wear!

Luck or fair balance doesn't always work the way we want it to.
One young man from here just got back from Bahgdad. His 37th in the 3rd Cav was front and center and they didn't lose a man. Paradox is...
He arrived to learn that another young man from here who was a smart, kind, delightful fellow had just drowned.
His mother had lost her husband to the sea years before and raised the boy well.
Had the graveside services today. Whole town turned out. Everyone felt it.
after spending all that time anxiously praying for the soldier, it was one close to home ...
Ya never know..
