Andersen Eagle Doors – Downsizing Gone Wild
I recently ordered replacement Andersen (Eagle) exterior clad doors, specifying a standard 3’0″ x 6’8″ door size. Imagine my shock when the $4500 acquisitions arrived and topped out at a 6’5″ slab height. Imagine my second shock when Andersen said that this is correct — a 6’8″ nominal door now comes almost 3 inches short. The rough opening falls short by the same amount, creating an infill nightmare for the replacement of doors that are only 5 years old (and measure an almost real 6’7 1/2″).
How can this be? I’ve followed the downsizing of everything (yes, 3/4″ ply is less than 13/16″ these days) but can this be right?

I don't get it either. It was bad enough when they went from 80" to 78" but I haven't seen any 77" ones yet. Id retrun them.
I'm 6'7" ! This would drive
