Anderson patio doors

| Posted in Reader Classified on October 8, 2003 04:36am

The new Anderson windows and patio door units are to be delivered tomorrow, and today the client made a change.  Now I have two patio door units available.  Good news is that the client is going to absorb all costs of the change.

6′-8″ h x 8′-0″ w RO, in swing, vinyl clad in beige (Sandtone), 400 series, no divided lites, one unit is XXO and the other is OXX.  Part number is similar to FWH8068.  Located in San Antonio.

Be careful of that tile order.

Did you see this indecision coming?

    Exciting this work, isn't it?

I had a fun one this summer, Had seventeen of A window and five of B window ordered. I realized two weeks later that I had order one too many of the B windows, a five hundred dollar unit.

Andersen acccepted my cancellation for a fee of $270 so it wasn't a total loss.

A month later, when I started phase two - building a storage shed, "wouldn't another window just like that (B window) look great right here iin this wall!"

      Groan, "Yes, it sure would"

      ;)

It wouldn't have hurt so bad if they had chosen ANY other window in the whole wide world.

      Oh Well....

      Excellence is its own reward!

Sure it would look great, only $770.00

        Thats how you recoup!!

Naw, That first cancellation was because oif my mistake. That's a cost I don't pass on to customers/.

Have you thought about putting them on Ebay?

Just got the decision today at about 7 pm local time, haven't fully thought out all the options.  The house being reno'd is the ranch house (on a 280 A horse ranch, 'bout 30 horses and 20 cows, 5 dogs and a 1 A bass/catfish pond), they have a very nicely restored 1920's house in the city, and are talking about building a new house on the back of the ranch, so one option is to keep the doors and incorporate them into the new house.

I have asked the local Anderson rep to see if any of his other clients have a need for them, but I don't think he's looking very hard...he's already made the sale, so why bother?  Yeah, he could make two builders happy, but he doesn't seem the type to care.

Do it right, or do it twice.

    Hi,

I might be interested. I live in maryland. Think the shipping costs would kill the savings for me?

Yeah, I think it would have to be someone in Texas to make the freight worthwhile.  Since they aren't used doors, there won't be much of a discount offered.  And actuall yht eAnderson rep has offered to store themn in his warehouse, so they won;t even make it to the jobsite.

Man, this hurts! Your doors are about 24" too wide for what I need but it sounds like the doors are otherwise perfect. I don't have room to make the RO any wider or I would be very interested. I might even drive down and pick one of them up in person if the price was right.

Could you maybe be desperate to get rid of a mis-ordered 6-0 door with one side fixed instead please. Preferably, a center hinged in-swing with the fixed panel on the left when approaching the door from inside. :-)>

Well Kev, the doors match your description except for the width.  Wonder if we could make some field adjustments by taking off the end fixed panel?  That would leave a unit about 5 1/2 ft wide.  You could use my sawzall, once the check clears :)

Hmmmmmm... e-mail heading your way. I'll check with my Anderson Rep tomorrow about picking up a frame that might make this work.

May not be economical or feasible but it's worth a look. I've been looking for a good excuse to head to San Antonio for a day anyway.Kevin Halliburton

If you head this way, give me a few days notice so I can plan to be in Houston...

LOL - Man, what happened to hospitality? I was gonna show up unnanounced with the whole herd expecting a warm meal and a soft bed. :-)>

It looks like my Anderson rep wasn't kidding when he told me he was giving me a better deal than he gives his contractors. Turns out it would be far more economical and convenient for me to just go ahead and get the smaller door he's already quoted me but I have a couple of contacts in Kerrville and Austin that might be interested in the doors you've got. I'll pass your info along.

The next time you plan a trip to Kerrville for a community meeting drop me an e-mail and I'll see if we can run down too. I would still like to meet you and the family, even if it has to be in neutral territory. :-)>Kevin Halliburton
