Been looking at the HD’s selection of 4-41/2″ angle grinders. Seem to have two different arbor diameters – some brands look to be 5/8″ diameter and others quite a bit less – I think the smaller diameter ones may be metric.
Anyway, will these all accept the “standard” size of depressed center grinding wheel, flap sander, etc? Or, do I need some kind of adapters? Do some brands of grinder lock you into using only their accessories because the arbor is non-standard?
Also, will these grinders use the Rotozip blades – diamond, masonry, etc?
The hole in them definitely would be too small for the 5/8″ arbor.
Edit: Thanks for the replies. Looks like I want the 5/8″. While I am not a pro I find that a few extra bucks up-front results in extended tool life. Thanks again for the replies

I haven't seen these that you are talking about. I'd assume you could find a bushing to use for most discs, but not for 5/8 x 11 thread on discs.
I would certainly avoid buying a 4 1/2" grinder that didn't have a 5/8 x 11 arbor. That is, unless there is something truly new and great in the world of grinder since I last looked. Which I kind of doubt, but who knows.

I believe those are 10mm holes. That is a common size. You probably noticed that the only grinders that had that sized hole were very light duty.
If you looked at the assortment of accessories near the grinders, you will see that there are all kinds of discs, wheels, etc. to fit these grinders.
I guess it depends on what kind of work you want to do with the grinder.
