Had the question asked to me this morning, “why are some finish nail guns angled while others are straight?†First thing that came to my mind was so that the tool can get in to tighter spaces, another thought I had was for a better balanced gun. I was curious to see if any one new a better more educated answer to this question or just your thoughts.
Thanks guys

Uh, greater magazine capacity? (Probably secondary, or a result of, not designed for, type of thing.)
I vote for the 'Capability to nail in more difficult position' theory, but who knows?
Ever try to toenail studs to a plate or sill with the straight kind? The magazine hits the studs. You can do it by angling the magazine out fo the stud bay, but that throws off your aim. You end up having to twist all over, and especially in remodel work where you might be working up against the back of a wall, doing so can make you armweary after a few hours. The angled mag generally fits into tight spaces better.
Makes it a whole lot easier to angle the gun in tight places for nailing.
