Any Mechanical Gurus in the house

Just got my 1st quote in…seemed quite high. Next to my stove is a 36″ Corner Cab. The goal is for the duct to go vertical, above the cabs and follow the corner of the corner cab about 2 feet and exit out the back of the house. Including the wall cap, the ductwork is speced at 13.5″ deep x 4″ high.
Lenths is 12H – *hood transition going vertical*, then 36L, and another corner 20″ L. The remainer is probably another foot out to the back of the house + wall cap.
I was quote $1350 installed…..seemed awfully high.

About right if you are in the area around here. Oughtta take a guy a day and mats. Even if he does it in 4 hours, thats a day in his book.

I agree with sphere.
Here in the great north wet that would actually be a good deal & sheet metal like all other building materials is at an all time high.
Thanks fellas.
Any tips of advice when looking for a good mechanical guy. I've called around for quote and ALOT only deal with HVAC, etc. Not alot of tinshops in my area.
I just need this custom duct done so that things fit better in the kictchen layout.
BTW, the mechanical shop I was talking with told me he preferred having the hood installed so he could make the unit in 1 pieces. My concern was that from a cabinet install standpoint, I might take the hood down.
He advised he could make a *slider* so that I could automatically adjust that piece which would make it a 2 piece instead.
Any advice or tips when interviewing a mechanical rep would be great. I've asked around and no one I knows has used/worked with any mechanical shops around me.

The vent comes in 2 blower configs - 600 CFM and 1200 CFM. It would be for a 30" stove/
I was initally leaning on the 1200CFM working on the assumption that for the most part, I neould keep the variable speed control on low but had the capabilty for higher suction if needed, if I was doing indoor grilling and such.
Due to duct volume, all talks to the manuf. of the hood and duct guys says that to stick with the 600 CFM unit. It would be a better match for the duct volume, quieter operation, no backpressure, etc whereas if I went with the 1200 CFM unit and had it on low, it would be noiser regardless, etc.
