I currently don’t own a circular saw. I do most of my cuts with my Makita 10″ SCMS.
I’m tired of using a jigsaw to rip plywood. I’m looking at 2 options. I mainly cut 2X stock anyways, so I don’t need anything huge and powerful. I can get the Sawboss which seems to cover 95% of my needs. I’m not sure if it will bog down if I am ripping 2 sheets of 3/4 hardwood stacked though.
The next option is the Bosch wormdrive 1677M. I like the rear handle setup and from past threads, the refined 77M can’t be beat. There is a big difference in weight as opposed to the Sawboss but I’m sure the power will make up for it.
Has anyone been in the same boat. What would you suggest? Both are great saws though.

Hiya!
Smart you are. In my opinion those are the two best saws out there. My first choice, if I could only have one saw, would be the Bosch/Skil. Hands down. Totally. My choice for a second saw would obviously be the PC.
My reason for the Bosch is the power/versatility. JMHO.

Im clueless Jim . Would you elaborate please?
Ive got the PCs and I love them. It has a rip guide that is wide and it really works. I think its pretty cheap in Tool Crib also. Ive been running a pair [left and right hand ] for 3 years . They still rip perfectly. 15amps. Power to spare and light.

I had a SawBoss 10 years ago when they first came out. I tmay have changed but I traded it in on a Milwaukee 7 1/2 inch. it didn't have the power and was very job specific. ik'm glac I changed nd have never regretted it
If a side winder is what you want Go with a Miwaukee!
Mine is 18 years old and is still the saw I reach for every day.
A buddy of mine has the new tilt handle and he likes it. I want to borrow it for a spell to see if I do to. my old workhorse is gonna die some day.(I been saying that for 5+ years but my local repair shop has been able to replace some bearings keep me making sawdust!)
PC used to make an invincible saw, then they discovered plastic. It my HO that they were bought out buy Fischer Price!
Taht should start something!!! ;^)

Do not try this at home!
I am a trained professional!
For sheet goods, the Sawboss is great. Put a good carbide blade on it and keep it sharp.
If you're wanting to rip two sheets and do it at high speed, it won't have the power. Go with a "full size" worm.

I think I'll go with the Bosch Worm and when the hands start getting old, I'll spring for the Sawboss.
For general crosscutting into 2X4 up to 2X12 in addition to ripping hardwood plywood, which blade really shines. Dewalt 7 1/4 blades are cheap at $2 each and then there always the Freud blade, which looks like a pretty good value (TK903) think kerf 30T blade
I've got a PC, it's a nice tool, but it ain't gonna rip two sheets of ¾" ply. No way. Joe H
For anyone looking for a cheap circular saw........my Dad just replaced his many yeards old /finally burnt up one.....with a "Woodhawk"......not sure who makes it....but he said it was like $35. I'm sure HD and Lowes sell them.
Not a bad little saw at all! I wouldn't have it in the van as the only one....but as puts it....."at 73 yrs old..the saw will out live him!" Not used for anything heavy or used till she get's hot.......for just a few cuts......does very nice. Well balanced.....ok power.......when the van's at the front of his house.....and his saw is right there where we're working....I don't even think aboput making the walk!
Jeff
She's exotic ,but not foreign, like an old Cadillac......she's a knockout!
It is a B&D 6 1/2" saw.
At that price it might be good to keep handy for cutting up plywood.
