Oh great after my son "KiltyCanuck" saw this http://www.stanleyfubar.com/
Now he'll want this too!!!!!
Their video plays like a monster truck radio spot..."Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing..."
Killed the link as soon as that started. I have a problem with having to listen to someone else's choice of music.
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
I've never used the "gutster", but here's another tool to throw out in the mix.

Hey Robert!!!!
How much is Mrs Petty paying you this summer????????
I think your summer job net income will be 0"No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
most likely now all i need is a jackhammer and I'll be ready for every thing
I'm a man........and I can change..............if I have to.................I guess
heh heh heh.... it might have been due to excessive frappacino consumption (I swear starbucks puts crack in them, AND I cant handle caffiene) but, it was the go to tool for demoing a big 24X24 barn last summer, we pulled the siding, then cut the posts... It works really well but the foam handle ripped right off. oops.
It was well worth the 62 dollars that I paid for it... it is a big ugly stick...
the only negative is that the fangs work great on dimensional lumber, but dont slide all the way down a true 2X4 so you dont get the full benefit of sliding it over a joist and prying up...
I was in a bit of caffiene induced craze, but it did seem to destroy everything I attacked with it... love that leverage...
AHA!
That's all it took--I'm on it.
I'll be ripping down one building and the top off another this summer.
Not before tearing up a big kitchen down to the subfloor though.
SO--I'm gettin' one!
Thx,
Pat"Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing..."
I'm thinking you should buy it and give us a report. BTW Harbor Freight has it for $39.99, but it may be first version.

For about 15 bucks at Menards, I can get a mattock, the ruling demo tool IMO.
What I'm interested in is how this thing rides a stud or a joist--so you's can pry up ply/lath/sheating whatever. The stand up and pry the floor routine is key for me too."Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing..."
I am so on it! I'll go look at Harbor Freight.
Hey how are you John?
How's that MMaster?"Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing..."
Not bad on my end. Could use alot more work lined up. Bidding is monopolizing my time. I haven't had much time to use the MM. We started a sunroom addition today.John

That bar is AWESOME!!!!! Well worth the money. I bought the green and silver one, I think it is about $70. I had a problem with a true 2x4 fitting in between the fangs but I ground off 3/16" off the inside of each fang and it worked great! I will have to put on a fresh coat of paint cuz she ain't as pretty as she used to be. haha
"It is what it is."
The gutster will never replace a stripping bar. The angle is wrong at the ripping end,90° is much better. Just another gimmick tool in my opinion.
mike
So, I did actually get one of these things... and used it first to tear about 90% of a house down to get started on the last remodel.
"Gutty" became the fought over 'tool of choice' any time it came to demolishing or taking something apart...
I say it's the best hand tool for its purpose that I've bought--some of its 'finest' examples:
Took a garage down with it last and was able to easily remove T&G 8" cedar siding up to 16' runs without damaging it.
I revisit b/c I just bought another one on ebay for 11.50$ plus shipping. Happy to pay 70$ for the first one and gonna probably gift this one to my buddy.
Cheers,
Pat
Bet someone could make some decent demo tools out of old leaf springs.
An old leaf spring is the best for ripping shakes off of skip sheathed roofs. Stick it between the boards and roll them up. When it gets big, cut the felt and carry it to the dump truck.
Seems someone with access to a plasma cutter and a welder could really doo-wop on some tool creations.
