Anyone ever see a gas fireplace that you thought looked like wood?
I’ve been looking at direct vent fireplaces and I haven’t seen anything that made me have to look twice to see if it was a wood fire place. Has anyone seen one that you thought resembled a real wood fire and if so can you send a link? Maybe it can’t be done or maybe I’m looking at the wrong stuff.
Thanks.

I'd love to hear this as well - the brands I've looked at Napoleon, Heat Glo, Majestic all looked what I thought they'd look like.....
I have an older model Valor fireplace. Good flame patterns, and ceramic logs are realistic.
Battery powered so works as emergency heat source when grid power is not available.
Large radiant surfaces, so feels similar to a wood fire as well.
We've had it about 10 years, still loving it.

Thanks - I'll take a look. Part of the problem I have is the wood "arrangement", the grate, the embers.
Some have embers that glow - definitely a must.
Some don't have grates - definitely should have a grate.
Almost all of them look they were an attempt by drunk people throwing a bonfire - the wood looks like it was tossed from across the room.
I've never seen a gas fireplace that looked like anything but a gas fireplace. IMHO if you have to have a gas fireplace embrace it, and get a style that doesn't look like a wood fireplace. eg https://www.regency-fire.com/en/Products/Gas/Contemporary-Gas-Fireplaces/HZ40E
I've seen some with optional firebrick-like rear and side panels that certainly helped a lot. (Typo--Should have waited until the coffee kicked in this morning before replying.)
