I’m about to pull the trigger – I’ve decided on a Lincoln Precision TIG 225 (ReadyPack). Harris Welding Supply (online) will deliver it to my door for $2065.
Anybody have any anecdotes on this particular model?
You know I trust y’all . . .

Can I have your old one?
Hah! It will sit on top. The new one has a 20-A receptacle, just perfect for a little ride-along MIG.

Got recommendation on a 220V small MIG? Looking at Hobart or Lincoln. Budget is under $700 (not including gas bottle).
Lincoln 180C
And I bet this will be the best price you'll find. $745 delivered and no sales tax -

believe he said TIG not MIG....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
"Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints"
You're right. Beats what I found at cheapwelders.com by $2.
Buddy who is a Lincoln repair rep told me to watch where you buy them.
Apparently it's the same thing as the plumbing fixtures looking the same and same packaging at the big boxes instead of a plumbing shop, except inferior components at the bigbox items.

Maybe a little more $$ than you wanted to pay but this is the welder I have and I love it!!

It's a Miller Passport Plus, about $1700 but worth it in my opinion. It can run off either 115V or 230V power by simply switching the screw on plug end and it has an internal tank of CO2 shield gas (much cheaper than Argon). The CO2 tank inside is the same as what paint ball guns use so I can refill at any sporting goods store - which is closer to my home and are easier to locate when on the road. Capacity is between 24 ga. and 3/8" steel.
Perfect for a contractor/remodeler like me.

Yeah. I know that's a good one. Budget buster though.
I asked the Lincoln rep and he said:
'The outlet IS NOT for plugging in a MIG welder !!!!'
and rereading my earlier comments about watching where you buy he was referring to the little boxes like Lowes would carry.
seeyou invented the clarifing issue

Yeah, I know - just makin' a pile o' welders in my mind
There's a lot to be said for buying it from your local welding supply house - they may not be able to match the online price, but they may give you a decent deal. You'll have to go there anyway to get gas, rods and other supplies, so it would be good to build up a relationship with them for when you need advice/service/repairs.
You know, yer absolutely right.
I walked into my normal welding supply placethis AM, and they had a Precision 225 ReadyPack as a floor model. I walked into the office bold as brass and said, "okay - what's yer best final price on that little jewel, cash dollar bills? You know I'll be buying a bigger tank as well, and some tungsten, and some rod, and a better helmet - I know what I'll pay for it on the web, delivered, but I'd rather deal with you."
He sat an' figgered, and said, "lemme go in the back and talk to dad". He came back in a bit and said, "okay - $1864 plus tax."
"Well, what's the total?"
"Ummm - lemme see . . . $2048.00."
"Sold!" I said, "thats a couple dozen dollars cheaper than the best intenet price!"
So - with everything, it was $2507 - and I had twenty-five hundreds and a dollar bill, and he said, "Aw, take it all for the twenty-five".
And the rest is history - my biggest tool purchase since my Unisaw, sixteen years ago. Here's pix of bringing baby home - I've wanted a TIG since welding class in ninth grade - over three decades ago.

Cool! I took a welding class a couple years ago; MIG was fun but I really liked TIG. One of these days I need to get one myself.
