Anyone recognize this plywood construction?
I found this chunk of plywood washed up on the beach. I’ve never seen overlapping plys like this. Anyone know why this would be done? I live in an area with many shipyards and wooden boat builders, so it’s very likely this is for a marine purpose. Unfortunately I know as much about boats as I do about life on Mars.

That looks like a chunk of lvl not plywood.
I'm guessing it would be about 1 3/4" thick?
Looks like a table sawn cut-off off a PSL (Parallel Strand Lumber) or LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber)
Thanks!
So LVLs have those lapped veneers inside them?
I thought it was shop made plywood because I've seen boat builders lay up their own, but an LVL makes sense.
Yep, lvls have the laps.
I also recall hearing someplace that these timbers are used in boatyards and shipyards for scaffolding so I guess between that and housing near the water, pieces manage going for a swim.
Thanks. I’ve found some good lumber on the beach, It’s like gold these days.
A friend of mine gave me some more detail:
“The overlap ensures continuation of longitudinal strength where two laminates meet end to end- and is faster then scarfing.”
