Nope.
I have a few from harbor freight. They were clearing them out, not for sale anymore. I don't know if they are the same as the Rockler copy, but they were very well made tools, and were originally about 30 bucks, which is probably high for harbor freight shoppers. These do have a 12 inch rule.
I sent one out for the gift exchange last year, never heard back from the receiver.
As for using them, they are useful, but I don't really use it much.
Let me know your address and I'll send you one.
Thanks Mark but I already pulled the trigger from Rockler being they were on sale for $20. That was a very nice offer from you : ))
I did check Harbor Freight b/4 I scored the Rockler one b/c when I Googled it I saw some comments about how they had them I think...for $10-ish.
I can see how I'd use it quite a bit as long as it's at hands reach.
It's one of those tools...like my Bosch laser measuring device. I'd never use it unless it was in my tool belt..which it is.
I also saw in a Google search that it was originally made by Stanley many many moons ago and these are all copies of the original design. I even saw an antique looking set of Stanley directions for it. Kinda cool actually.
Variations of that, of course, have been around for eons. My grandfather was a machinist and had several all-steel units that were similar, though not quite a Swiss Army Knife-ish. The original scribe made of wood probably goes back 2000 years or so.
