Saw an ad in FHP for a product called clip-vent. It’s a plastic channel so you can make rafter chutes out of 1″ rigid foam. Anyone have opinions pro/con?

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

They still recommend using sprayfoam for a complete seal. Looks like the savings is in labor.
Looks like just another attempt to skin the cat.

I bought some of those styrofoam channels that you staple on the bottom side of your rafters down at the soffit. To keep insulation from blocking the air stream from the soffits. Got them at HD.
Do these accomplish the same as what your talking about?
Anyway, mine seem to keep this attic cooler.

Looks like all it does it provide a set spacer for the air gap, and give you a little play in how wide you cut the foam. If they can beat the price of a piece of 1x2, they might have something there.

Well, they'd be easier to install than 1x2. Though either is a bear when retrofitting a low-pitch attic.

It doesn't look particularly cheap compared to a 1X2. Given that I'm doing this for myself, I'm inclined to just use the 1X2. How do you do it? Put the strip up against the sheathing and framing? Do you secure the foam board with spray foam or something else? Any concerns about putting an impermeable layer on the outside in S. New England? I'd think not since there's a vapor barrier on the inside and the insulation can still breathe a little at the top.
