Are the 19.2 “craftsman” really PC’s?
Are the 19.2V “craftsman” power tools really made by Porter Cable? Or are they a low cost copy? The drill I am looking at has the same 2amp motor. I thought I once read that Craftsman worm drive 7 1/4 saw was just a Skill 77 with a different nameplate.

The 3 digits in front of the model number give ths manufacturer.

Here is a list of some of them. I have heard that the clerks have an uptodate list that you can check.
It does not list PC. But "135." is Bosch/Skill.
"900." is DeWalt/B&D.
PC is the only one who makes a 19.2, Sears must have struck up a deal with PC to make them. If that is true, there are some good deals on PC drills and saws with "craftsman" nameplates.....
I am not saying that these are good or that they are bad.
But when Sears (or HD or Lowes) has something made with their name on it then may not be the same product that is sold under the manufactures name. You can't readily see the bearings and the like.
But for corded tools check on the amps on the name plate. That will tell you if they have a smallered motor or not.
Sometimes the manufacturer will tell you - the key questions: can/will their service outlet repair them; and, are the parts interchangeable..

The Crapsman wormdrive is indeed a Skill 77, usually $10 less than the one branded 'Skil' at Sears.
There's nothing proprietary about 19.2v . Batteries use cells of 1.2v each, so they're a multiple of 1.2v . The 19.2v , then, has one more cell than an 18v .
Maybe the drills are Ryobi, which is another manuf. that the Crapsman name is slapped onto.

Ken: I think you may be right cause Ryobi has been making a lot of the Craftsman power tools for sears, Ryobi is making the radial arm saws & table saws since Emerson & Sears parted ways..
The drills are Ryobi's. Does anyone the amps. on these drills? 2amps?
