How do all of you install your tub drains: plumbers putty or caulking to seal? When you are screwing the drain into the threaded elbow, do you torque/turn the elbow or the drain? I’ve always wondered whether the act of turning the drain against the tub floor forced out most of the sealant. I’ve always used plumbers putty but I read a waste/overflow package the other day that said to use caulk. I’m assuming silicone? I haven’t had one leak on me yet, but want to do what’s best.

PVC glue man! It rocks!
Kidding... use silicone... you'll never go back!
Plumbers putty will stain some materials so stick with silicon.
Silicone....
No matter what the putty container says it will eventually go hard and leak might not be this year or next year but it will leak.
