My house was built in the 1930’s and has a large tudor style gable which is finished in asbestos cement siding. Some of the tiles have cracked and need replacement. I was able to locate an old roofing supply company that still had this product stocked away for this purpose. My question is, how do you properly cut this tile and any precautions in installing this material to avoid breakage?

They have a special cutter for that siding it snaps it leaves a rough edge and also hard to find. I use now a diamond blade on my power saw and I also use a 4 1/2 grinder with diamond blade no more breakage wear a mask and cut with the wind.
*I had the concrete-asbestos siding on my house and have since removed it and installed vinyl siding. Prior to that I had made some cuts with a carbide tipped circular saw blade with out too much problem--went slowly and scored about 2/3 of the way through -then snapped it. watch out for dust! Also i have heard that a company makes a look alike material of solid vinyl for remodelling purposes--sorry dont know who it is tho.
