redoing my existing asphalt driveway including extending it. should i have asphalt sub do prep work (base) or excavator i will be using for addition. i’m afraid of conflict if something goes wrong & there are 2 subs involved vs 1.
any comments appreciated

The company that I work for does asphalt (among other things) and the man in charge likes to do all the base work himself for just the reason you mention. We have had to repair our work that failed after following a sub into a project or redo the base that wasn't properly prepared. We feel that we know more about what kind of compaction and grading work is needed better than someone that doesn't do black stuff. Although your contractor may be competent in his trade, if he hasn't spent much time on the end of an asphalt rake, maybe you should stay with the blacktop contractor.
Just my opinion.
