I’ve just installed a pair of french doors. Originally, they were going to have dummy knobs and ball catches. Now, the homeowner wants slide latches and lockset. My question is: What’s the standard place for the flat astragal (stop) I’ll be adding? On the fixed door, or the swinging door with the knob?
Thanks!

The standard location is on the Inactive door--think of the astragal as Door Stop...it stops the active door just like the stop on the jamb. However, there are time (swing-out exterior pairs) where it's nice to put an astragal on the active door (means you sometimes have to do funny things with the lock strike, but it's worth it). On some exterior doors, I've put astragals on both doors.

Thanks for the reply. This is an interior door and putting the astragal on the inactive door would have been my guess. It's great to get a confirmation from an expert!
