Are there any renovation/remodeling contractors from Atlanta needing a seasoned, quality minded hand? I’ve been looking in the local papers and stopping at job sites inquiring about positions but so far I can’t seem to find anything that’s a good fit. Due to the worst year of my life, I don’t have the tools I once had but am looking to rebuild my equipment repertoire once working consistently. I’m willing to travel and will likely relocate to the city should the right position arise. I’m currently working as a finish carp for a guy who’s idea of fair pay seems to have originated and remained stuck in the 70’s. I’m looking for a long term relationship with a quality outfit. I’ve been a lead man for many years, have some project management experience, and am a good problem solver whether it be structural or personell. If you know of a position available, I’d appreciate hearing from you. By the way, I’m a yankee if that has any bearing on the situation. It seems to be a matter of contention with my current employer and isn’t something I wish to revisit if possible. I can’t believe some people are still fighting the civil war…

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

bump , good luck
Thanks Mooney. Here's another bump. I wonder if people down here even know what Fine Homebuilding is? Let alone actually reading it...then the true stretch of using the information... OK, I've probably shot both feet off by now so I'd better shut up.
hell come to memphis and I'll put you to work and if there is a tool i don't have for you i'll get it... the yankee thing is a problem but guess that means you will work opening day of all hunting seasons...

Hi Jack
Pony started the stairs yet?
nope only in my mind.... still use'n the shaft to fork lift up stuff to the second floor... the big hole helps... i have most of the steel onsite and cut for the uprights (40ft stock) and for the landing frames.... just don't love welding when it 100plus degrees...
we did get the first sheets of drywall up today even if it was only the fire rock that went behind the shower units that back up to a firewall... but now i can say "we are in the sheet rock stage"
thanks for ask'n... have a great weekend

You too man, get a good plan together for those monsters.
Third bump so I guess I'm out...
You may not get any action here, but honestly this is the last place I'd look. Get yourself out the door and use up some shoe leather. Talk to lumberyard sales people (probably not the guys at the counter, the inside guys upstairs) and see who's busy and who does good work, then call them. Do some internet searching for 'Atlanta remodeling contractors' and see who has a good website, then call them. Drive some neighborhoods that you like, stop at jobsites, find out who's in charge, and ask if they need help. Read the want ads and craigslist atlanta.
