I am trying to find a method of attaching new gingerbread to existing fascia. I designed gingerbread to compliment existing corner brackets, but have yet to determine the proper method of attachment. The design incorporates (3) 1″ sites per 30″ section to match the fascia board, but I’m worried about the flexing in the wind over the years. I’ve thought about the possibility of using dowels or a camming lock in conjunction with a good polyurethane glue or epoxy. The gingerbread is designed for 1X10, or 2X12 (with a rabbet) and the fascia is only 1X stock. Any pertinent suggestions?

got any pictures?
Can't just screw it?
*Mad Dog:Wish I could get the scanner working! I was hoping to just screw it, BUT the few areas where I can screw are too small and angling the screws won't allow for any length due to the thickness (thinness) of the 1X fascia. The problem re-occurs on the portico gable where a half sized pattern is used, and I'd hoped to have them both appear similar as they are on the same facade.Thanx.
*Todd, have you used pocket screws? They might work.
*Mike, thanx. I'll give them a try. All too often we tend to think one dimensionally!
