I want to attach 5/4 Ipe to cap a concrete block knee wall with silicon caulk rather than adhesive for ease of removal for future refinishing. Any reason not to do this?

A. Ipe is available in that width and length?!? I've never seen that at my supplier. Then again, I never asked.
b. Mechanical fasteners help maintain stability and resist movement of the Ipe. Not sure if even a urethane adhesive can do this. Either way, SOP is to not have untreated wood come in direct contact with masonry. Ipe is bulletproof but even so, not sure I would risk it due to cost.
c. I would be concerned about moisture being trapped under the Ipe. If used, adhesive would need to be applied in dots rather than lines to avoid damming.
Just some thoughts while eating lunch.
