How do I attach a Quickbooks invoice to an e-mail to send to a client? I have been having to print it and then give it to the client in person or mail it which both delay the receipt of payment,
thanks

Which version do you use?
that latter versions of QBpro have ability to email it right straight out of the program.
I am on an older version so I print to PDF, saving the pdf on hard drive, then attaching it to the email.
There are free pdf printers available to down;load online. pdf995 is one name. you can google "free pdf" and find several

QB Pro '99. Yes, it's pretty old but I work alone (no payroll etc) so my book keeping is very straight forward, don't know if upgrading would benefit me at this point.
99 was one of the most stable platforms they had out, but they do not support it anymore. I almost wish I had stayed with it.Anyways, you will need to either upgrade or install a pdf print software whih you can find free.
It installs as a printer, then when you tell QB to print, you select the PDF printer instead of your own defeault LAN printer.
The program will ask you to name the file as it saves it. Remember what name and where on the drive you are saving it so you can attach it to email

Over my head! Could you explain how to do it, please
I Thought I just did.Google "free pdf"pick one ( I use pdf995)download and install itThen after you prepare an invoice in QB, go to file>printA dialouge box will pop upwhere you can do things like say how many copies and whether landscape or portrait layout. Near top of that dialouge box is a drop-down menu that will display the name of whatever printer you are using now. Clicking on that will cause the list to drop down and you will see your pdf program listed there.. choose it as your printer. Then OK to print the invoice to the hard drive as a pdf file. Then attach it to your email as you would any other attachment.

Thanks for your help, I'll give it a try
I'm not familiar with Quickbooks but try doing a Save As, then look to see if it will let you save it to some other format such as a .pdf file that can be emailed to the customer.
There was a way to save as - some sort of a text doc, but it would totally mess up all the formatting and lines. The info would be there, but not sensibly arranged.
That is my memory of '99 anyway.

In QuickBooks I can send an invoice with an option for the customer to pay online with a credit card. Actually my wife, the CPA, does it for me. I accept credit cards though. It's handy for receiving a deposit quickly....John.View Image
But you are not doing this with QB'99. You have a newer version. the OP is using 99

I use QBs Premier Contractor Edition and on the Invoice page there is an email option on the toolbar about 3 or 4 down from the left. I think you will have to set up MS Outlook (if you have Windows) or another email program for your OS.
My Bro uses a different version and he emails his too. I dont know how he does his but I can find out if you need me to. Like Piffin said, we need to know what version you have.
When everthing is going your way, you're in the wrong lane
A PDF writter is the way to go. Also if you become familar with the program, the person at the other end cant alter the document. PDF's are also a great way to keep a back- up copy of your invoices on your hard drive. I bought mine from Adobe and get constant free upgrade. Handy tool to have, even for personal use.
You should be able to bill an invoice directly from the Invoice page by selecting "Send". It will go to a small screen that asks you to write a small message to the client. I've been using Quickbooks since 2000, and have always had this option.
