Hello guys, I’m building this structure over a deck and I was wondering what suggestions you might have about attaching it to the exterior wall. These are 1.5 inch square metal tubes. Thank you.

Sun shade?
Rain shelter?
or more?
Climate?
Dimensions?
Hope it's not a roof in snow country.
The only things would be added are curtains on the sides. No roof.
Dimensions are 11x11 and 7 in height.
Thank you.
Siding on the house?
Yes, House have siding.
What kind of siding?
Vinyl.
You will need a solid blocking devoid of your vinyl to fasten it to the house. Might as well build it as if you were to add covering later…….
And of course you’ll want to properly flash the siding and finished cover at the blocking.
You should consider wind as someone some day may decide to tie off the curtains, when their beer gets knocked off the table, effectively making a sail.
I’ve seen weight drop curtains do more than knock of the beer…..get one of those on the side of the head……
Geographic location would help to add better insight.
For attaching 1.5 inch square metal tubes to an exterior wall securely, consider using heavy-duty brackets or mounts designed for outdoor use. Ensure they are weather-resistant and provide strong support. Pre-drill pilot holes to prevent damage to the wall and facilitate easier installation.
Thank you!
Hello Robbyve,
To securely attach the 1.5-inch square metal tubes to the exterior wall, consider using heavy-duty brackets or mounting plates designed for outdoor use. Ensure the fasteners are suitable for the wall material (e.g., masonry screws for brick or concrete, lag screws for wood). It's important to distribute the load evenly and use weather-resistant materials to prevent corrosion over time. Good luck with your project!
You two are surely on the same page! Amazing……
Yeah, let's attach them thru the vinyl siding and squeeze it flat against the sheathing.
Thank you.
