attic ventilation channel question
I’m installing some insulation in my attic and have a question about how many ventilation channels I need. Do I install a vent channel between every rafter or just between the rafters where a soffit vent is located. Thanks for any help.

Just where a soffit vent is located. Though blocking off the eave overhang somehow so it doesn't fill with insulation isn't a bad idea.
blocking...
Thanks for answering. It seems like i'm asking the same question again, but, block off the eave overhang just where there is a vent or block all of them. Thanks again!
If I understand
you correctly, you are asking about installing baffles in the rafter bays of an open attic, and you're saying that the vent openings at the eave are not continuous, but only occur in some of the rafter bays. In that situation, you install baffles so that air from those vents is able to get freely into the attic without insulation blocking it. You don't need a baffle where there isn't a vent opening.
What Dan is saying is that you want to prevent insulation from spilling outside of the wall line. It does no good out there. You need to insulate the ceiling and the top plate of the wall, but no further than that.
So...
My last post wasn't very clear, sorry. So, where there is a soffit vent between the rafters I will install the ventilation channels and the blocking. Where there are no vents I'll just install the blocking by itself to keep the insulation out of the overhang. Right?
Thanks for your help.
Right, though if you install a full-bay vent chute then there's no need for additional blocking in that bay. (In the event that you don't, you can use, eg, a strip of foam rubber to serve double duty -- block the bay and hold the tip of the chute in place.)
(No need to obsess about blocking the unvented bays -- just do what you can. The insulation installer should make a little effort to not pack the rafter tails, and you're just helping that effort.)
