Hello,
Does anyone know if Australian Cypress flooring will weather well with in floor radiant heat? My cabinet guy says it will ooze sap and crack.
We are at 8500 feet in Colorado, real dry.
Thanks for your comments. Mo B

Mo B,
From the time it is cut to delivery at your site should take care of any shrinkage problem. Aust. cypress is a very stable timber, and should tolerate your heated environment very well. With the exception that large free knots may drop clear, I can't imagine that your cabinet maker's forecast fears are justified. Here in Oz we value cypress for its termite resistant qualities as well as its distinctive aroma.
A relative of mine built his entire house of cypress in the 1920s, and it was like an Asian temple to live in. It is not good for serious structural applications, as it fails like a carrot at point of max stress when overloaded.
For what its worth.
Lapun.
