I just purchased a new milwaulkee auto feed screw gun. I paid for two cases of screws and $200 for the gun. If I buy 4 cases, I get the gun free. Since my foreman made the decision, he decided to save me money….I’ll be fixing that mismove on monday….Why?
Because, if you know me, you’d know that I should never be allowed to work with a new tool unsupervised!
I couldn’t quite get done with one deck before I “severly damaged the auto-feed device”! I did get through one little sub-box, which was a surprise to me before I found a creative way to f ** k it up.
Here’s what happened. I left a screw head proud because I tried to go too fast. I then dedided to sink it by cycling the tool again. I forgot that a new screw would cycle and then I had two jammed in the shoe. Stubbornly, I tried again! Now I had three (at this point, I haven’t even bothered to bend over and look to see what is happening). Stupidly, ignorantly, NATURALLY, I went for a FORTH! On the forth, I realized what was happening and aborted just as the screw engaged.
So there I was staring at 3.5 screws jammed into the shoe area. I should have pulled out the manual at this point….but no…we’re talking Mr Bonehead, the non-mechanic here….
Anyways, the tool guy had to come out to give me the other two boxes so I can get this tool “free” on Monday…..
Maybe I’ll take it apart to see what i ruined by ripping the strip out backwards….
Nawwwww

Did you try bangin' real hard on a rock? Use a combination vice grips/pliars/bench vice and little screw drivers? Continually pull the trigger and look at the tool from every direction with a perplexed look on your face? Take the tool back to the sales guy and tell him it came out of the box that way? These are the things I always try.
Shoulda bought the QuikDrive, buddy. Never used the Milwaukee, but sounds like it's way to easy to bugger up. Besides, the QuikDrive has a lifetime warranty, which the company does seem to honor. Don't worry, I woulda done the same thing - if the first screw doesn't drive the fourth DEFINATELY will, right?

Mike, my nail/tool guy fixes all my crap free. He'll fix this little gizmo at no charge, even if I'm at fault (I am).
If I had taken the time to open the manual, before I forcefully attempted to "unstick" it, I wouldn't have damaged anything.
Rough framers don't baby anything though...

Ps LUVmotha, I thought about using the rock...thankfully the only boulder in view was too large for me and my five guys to lift....
I have a Quickdrive. They'll bugger up just as easy as the milwaukee.
Anybody used the Senco?

I own three of the Hilti autofeed guns, and I love them. There are some minor flaws, but nothing that bothers me enough to dislike the tool. We ran almost 30,000 screws before we had what I considered a tool caused jam, rather than operator caused. When I bought them, I got them on a deal that with 40,000 screws, a gun was really inexpensive. Anyway, I love them, and now I can't use a regular gun anymore.
