I heard somewhere that a skilled craftsman should be able to get the job done in two weeks.
Now define what you think an average kitchen remodel is?
Now define what you think an average kitchen remodel is?
Why? I already know how long the average kitchen renovation takes for the company I've been working for. That doesn't mean that their average job is THE average.-T
I've enlarged a doorway (new header and drywall without breaking coved ceiling), repaired the floor, moved a heat duct, extended a small wall, disconnected plumbing, demolished and removed paneling and cabinets above and below about 50SF of countertops, moved drain pipe, hung new cabinets with crown moulding, installed a ducted microwave, fabrictated and installed solid surface countertops, reconnected sink and faucet, installed dishwasher and laid 300SF of laminate floor in about 80 hours or so.
When I fnish the floor, cabinet base board and reconnect the supply line to the fridge and stop the drip at the faucet, I'll be under a hundred.

Well, let me see. I started renovating my own kitchen about 2 years ago and at the rate I'm going I 'll have it finished just in time to renovate it again. I'd say that's pretty average doing my own kitchens.

DIY or pro? Probably 2-4 weeks for the latter, 2-4 years for the former.
You forgot one. What about the pro doing his own? 2-4 decades sound right?
Once did a complete (albeit small) renovation between Thursday evening and Monday morning - complete with sheetrock repair, new floor and cabinets.
2 weeks to 2 years.
give or take.

You got just about the answer I expected. Too many variables in play.
When I did my own, I planned it as carefully as I could. 19 boxes, new window and sliding door. new floor including ripping up the old glued down particle board underlayment. paint, few drywall repairs and three piece crown.
Took me 8 work days working alone. Probably could have cut that down by two but I'm not as sharp as I used to be. And i'm no plumber or electrician either and i did both. lots of double checking.
But i have heard horror stories of modest remodels taking a month or more while they wait on floors and counter tops.
I have thought, and discussed at length with a previous partner, that there is a market in my area for a kitchen remodeling company that controlls all the pieces and parts and delivers a finished product in ten days or less.
