Awesome Bobcat attachment

Oak River Mike | Posted in Tools for Home Building on May 15, 2009 01:04am

Has anyone seen the vid clip of the Bobcat attachment that has the log cutter and splitter in the same unit?  Very cool.  I couldn’t attach it to this thread as its 4 mb in length but can send it to anyone if they want to see it.

    Use tinyurl.com

That will change it into a short one.

That should not make any difference. It just takes the URL and saves it and generates a short one. When you click on the short one the site redirects you automatically to the real URL..

          Bill,

What he's saying is that he received the file, not the link. So he had to upload the whole 3mb file if he wanted to post it.

YEAH!  Thanks Boats!  Is that cool or what?

I wonder if its a production item or did some custom make it?  Either way cooler than hell!

That is pretty cool.I could have done without the video being 4:15 long. After the first few times, I think I pretty much had the concept down. I kept waiting for something new and exciting to happen, but no dice.

That may possibly be the coolest thing I have ever seen.

I agree as I thought the same thing!!!  And I live in Florida where firewood is not a prime commodity!

      1. webted | May 23, 2009 05:23am | #21

Now if only they could come up with a similar attachment to open those plastic clamshell packages....-t

  6. ponytl | May 23, 2009 02:25am | #18

from the vid looks factory... since it's their website I'm guess'n they'd sell you one...

    that thing is cool...

    count the actions...

     loads the logs with tongs/forks

    power feed of the log

power stop to stop the log

powered spliter wedge that goes up & down to get equal splits per size log...

    power to run the saw...

    power to plung the saw....

with one power take off on the bobcat (hyd)  and all i can do is control the flow... high & low and reverse...

you'd need dc powered valves and a control box in the cab of the bobcat to operate it...

if you can build a single function machine... then I'm say'n you could build a multi function one also...

I think with enough time and watching the vid enough times I believe it's not that complex...  yeah  i think you can build one...  just post pics

    p

    1. mikeroop | May 24, 2009 02:32am | #22

your machine must be older? mine has plenty of switches for all those functions.

      1. ponytl | May 24, 2009 03:14am | #23

for real?  i have a 2001 753 bobcat...   it has a couple switches...  but with only one set of aux hyd. fittings  the only thing you can control (without wires) is the flow in & out forward & reverse hi & low flow

btw i have thought about the spliter.... you could build it in stages....the first function is the split... then i'd add the adjustable height on the splitting wedge... then the log grab & feed & cut

yep.... now if i had a need for firewood... i'd think about it more

        :)p

        1. mikeroop | May 24, 2009 04:04pm | #25

mine has 4 switches at each hand and in and out flow also i misunderstood you and thought you would have to put extra switches inside with you i'mpretty sure you should be able to plug in and use the switches already there.

  7. ponytl | May 23, 2009 02:27am | #19

btw... i have an extra larger concrete mixer... without a motor... i'm just waiting til i have the time to convert it to hyd... so i can mount it on the bobcat and save a step... mix & dump...  i also have a power broom for a 3 point hitch... that i need to build a mount for the bobcat...  just another project ... or 2
