I was driving through a fairly upscale neighborhood a few days ago and saw an older home (75 – 100 years old) with a considerable sized awning over the door. It was approximately 6 feet wide and came out about 6 feet over the entrance. It had a metal frame, which appered to be copper because of a petina that had formed, and in that frame were what appeared to be pieces of frosted glass. I doubt that it was glass, simply because of the frequency of hail storms in our area. It was not protected at all, so I would imagine if a considerable hail storm arrived, it would be destroyed. Has anyone ever seen one of these before? I’m thinking of doing something similar on my house, but I need a place to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
