These would be a B767-300 going through a reconfigure of the entire cabin for the “new look”
The first and second pics are of the Fwd cargo area with the ceiling and sidewalls removed to access the wires for the new seats and entertainment systems.
The last one is of the cabin taken fron the rear of the aircraft looking Fwd.
The aircraft came in just before X-mas and is schedualed to go out on the 31 Jan.

In pic 1, what are the curtains rolled up on the right side, and what is the fiberglass tank in the back left?
Whu is there a ceiling? Does it serve any purpose? Seems like it add weight.
"When asked if you can do something, tell'em "Why certainly I can", then get busy and find a way to do it." T. Roosevelt
the rolled up curtains are the sidewall panels. They are made of a thin fiberglass material. The ceiling panels are made of the same tpe of material and are necessary for fire protection. Keeps the compartments seperate from the cabin. the big tank is the air conditioning plenum.
>...for fire protection. <
as well as a secondary function of keeping the cargo loaders from fiddling with stuff they shouldn't be fiddling with such as flight control cables...
Yeah, that's a pretty good reason as well.
Hey Jet, do you know a guy named Rich Steer? I think he is one of the head honchos up there.
Nope don't know that name.
Could be he's in another city?"No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Nice pics!
Do you do heavy checks in-house or send them elsewhere?
Don't forget to wire the cockpit for an entertainment unit. Maybe a little broadband access?<g>
Mongo
According to the official party line......We fill the hangers we have first, If we still need maint. done then we sub out the rest.
Un-official is they sub out too much.
We have aircraft in HongKong and in Rome NY."No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Please don't have any left-over parts.
I'm gonna be flying a couple of times this spring, and don't need any thing else to worry about.
<G>
Left over parts is a sign of the techs being smarter than the engineers that over designed the item in the 1st place. :o
LOL
That's what I've always said when I've had any leftover parts
somehow it's not as comforting when yer 20,000 feet up.
tween you and MarineEngineer you guys should put together a flying submarine...lolIMERC secretly owns the Bosch Company

Yeah, there's no room in the hangers for more aircraft because the hangers are filled with the toolboxes of all the furloughed mechanics!Mongo
You have no idea how close to the truth you are about layed-off and retired mechanics leaving their tool boxes behind."No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Why do they leave their tools behind?
And post as many pictures as you want. I'm loving it.
Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?
Alot of the "old folks" retirees, have no need for their tool boxes at home, so they leave them there.
One of these days (as in the past) we will action them off and use the money for Dreams take flight. An organisation of AC people who fly needy kids to Disney for the day. Air canada gives the aircraft and fuel, the crew is all volunteer and the kids each get $50 for spending.
Have yet to see a kid use the $50 on himself. Usually spent on Parent, sibbling or caregiver.
What's that in yer eye?????"No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
I asked because when my late Grandfather retired he practily gave his tools away. He was a mechanic his whole life, and had all Snap on. Very big collection. He sold them to a young guy starting out for a few hundred dollars as I recall.
I asked him what the heck he was thinking? His reply was. "I got all I wanted out of them, and he needed them." Made sense to me.
I like your program even better. Doing good for kids is always a good thing.

Very cool Jet!
I've sat in planes and wondered what the bones look like. It looks about how I envisioned.

Your profile says Montreal.
I've done a bunch of work at the Everett plant I know a bunch gets subbed out, but I thought the main assy was still in Everett.

There's a difference between building them (Boeing) and maintaining them through their life prior to the boneyard. What their doing in the pics that Jet posted is pretty routine for any operator.
Was in the Everett plant the summer of 2000. Maybe we were there at the same time?
Jet, The pics remind me of some fun times, post more if you'd like.
Yeah I know the maintaning goes on at each carrier, but I thought he said reconfigure, so I thought that would more in the production line.
I haven't worked up there since the inaguration storm back in 93', when they were expanding the building for the 777.“How many observe Christ’s birthday! How few, his precepts! O! ‘tis easier to keep Holidays than Commandments.” —Benjamin Franklin
We reconfigure the cabins quite often. This is a big modification on this cabin mod.
When we had the 747 combi aircraft we use to re-configure the cabin in the fall and spring.
The aft half would be changed from upper deck cargo to passanger space. That would take use about 10 days todo each of the 3 747's we had.I will post more as I can."No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
Do you guys use Tyvek or felt?
You just love to "brasse la merde" do ya!!!
That's it from now on I'm gonna swear in french so the mod's can't tell!!!!!!!"No doubt exists that all women are crazy; it's only a question of degree." - W.C. Fields
