I was in the teens as I took off for a tour across Illinois today in the gyrocopter. We escaped the big storm a few days ago and only received a little ice. But as I flew westward…the ground turned white and it was getting deeper the farther I went.

Looks like they didn't get the crops in on that wind farm before the big freeze.

Hmm, maybe you could rig up a waterskiing line to Stan's gyro and get pulled across those fields. Could be a cool new Xtreme sport.
That would be fun to watch. Hope Stan has a heater in that 'copter.

Stan how is your gyrocopter performance in the extreme cold? I know fixed wing have pitot tubes heated and carbs warmed. I know you have a great interior heater. looks like a blast. stinky
stinky: The performance goes up in the cold weather. More dense air .
The heater is very warm in there. I dont have to worry about carb ice on this gyro because there is none. I have fuel injection.

Glad to hear the worst of it missed ya. It didn't miss us. 1/2" ice followed by 4-8" of snow and blowing wind, falling trees and power outage.
