Does anybody have any industry literature regarding back priming? I’m unaware of any industry standard for this requirement.
My understanding is that there is no industry requirement for a painter to do “back priming” unless the contract calls out for it and, presumably, the painter is paid for it.

I've typically come across backpriming recommendations in publications from the wood associations. They want their products to stay flat and attract more admiring customers. In our design practice, we require backpriming when specifying film-forming finishes, especially alkyds, but skip it with breathable finishes like transparent stains.
