Bad Flashing/Roof detail seeking help!

Hello, this is a post and beam house, from inside to out wall assembly is: posts, horizontal t&g sheathing, wrb, 2 layers foil faced rigid foam, strapping, pine shiplap vertical siding. There is a funky roof detail that dumps water behind siding. House was built in 03 so no fancy rainscreen. Siding will have to all be replaced on ~10 years so I am looking to band aid not rebuild. Water behind siding from roof is not penetrating envelope, just accelerating rot in the strapping and siding. Thanks!

It needs gutters and downspouts. You can remove the gutters/spouts if needed in ten years when you’re ready to redo the siding.
Also make sure you check the grommets on the exposed screws which only last 10-12 years. They’re notorious for leaks. I wish folks would go to a standing seam system if they want a metal roof. As a person who worked for a commercial roofing company replacing screws and grommets were a constant rainy day job. We had to go up a size on those sheet metal screws. Since we were commercial, purchasing bought them in boxes that contained 4-5,000. I went from hot roof, EPDM, sheet metal department to warehouse manager. In each position I did leak detail ugh!
Yes I ageee gutters and downspouts would help. However this roof takes a really big snowload and forms some ice dams so gutters may not be helpful in the winter.
Yep, you got an inch or two. Check with a good roofing contractor see if there’s some type of snow guard you can use. I’d also ask if they can clear snow off when needed.
Where we live in NC we haven’t seen a good snow since late ‘80’s. But we get ice and a bit of it.
Might be able to just install kickout flashing at the bottom of the roof/wall interface. Do a search on FHB's website, they've got several good writeups, product suggestions, and videos. Seems like that'd be the least work, and might buy that siding some more life.
Look for sidewall flashing from your metal roof supplier.
