I am framing a house with which the designer was courteous enough to require
that I have 15″ knee walls at various locations. Now with the rafters sitting on top, I would prefer to use balloon framing in this situation. I
have discussed this with several master carpenters & none can give me a definite answer on the size of the “let-in” ledger. The studs will be 16 oc
and the 2nd floor joists will be 2×10. Any remarks?
