Just saw a new Iphone App posted on the JLC forum which appears to be quite nice.

How 'bout a full-boat feet-inch-fraction trigonometry calculator?
One with great graphics would be nice.
Make that old CM-Pro seem like a dinosaur! Lay it on the gravel, drive the 4x4 over it! Good bye!
Figure all your roof cuts, your trim workouts, stairs, etc., and go online to twitter away to all your friends and family, while doing so.
Didja watch the fabulous movie, starring Robert Downey, Jr., playing an engineer with a great job assignment? In Iron Man, he uses a supercomputer with a holographic design and solid modeling package, virtual reality on steroids, to design his space suit.

There is one called Inchcalc+which is pretty good. It has one large short coming IMO which will not allow you to add a number to itself in a string, I.E. baluster layout.I contacted the company and was told there would be an update, but that was a few months ago....

yeah, that was cool. "M" had a cool big-screen computer in the latest Bond flick, Quatum Solace too. Love to have one of those for figuring roof cuts!"...craftsmanship is first & foremost an expression of the human spirit." - P. Korn

that does seem a tad more useful than the 'shake the crying baby to death' one they just deleted!

The iPhone is not code-compliant. It measures 4 1/2" long, while local code dictates a maximum gap of 4".
Around here, we carry specially modified dolls to verify compliance: the heads are carefully machined 4" spheres. Grab it by both legs, and if the head slips between balusters, you're in violation, buddy!
Bic Lighters, however, are code-compliant. You can use cigarettes, too, but don't go longer than a 100.

I'm not sure you are reading it correctly. 4" is the IRC in Washington as it is in most places. I ran a few examples last night and it met code in those cases. If you can describe which values you used that might help clear things up,
I misspoke -- the doll's head can slip through, but it better not rattle. The cigarette is a safer spacer, as long as you don't smoke it.But don't make the mistake of grabbing one of those Virginia Slims 120s! They're worse than iPhones, and the IRC does not allow them as a gauge. ...Unless you smoke them down a bit first.AitchKay
