I have a bamboo floor that needs to be refinished. The pre-finished original floor (from China) used “UV cured acrylic polyurethane”. Would acrylic be better to use than oil? Where does one buy the “UV cured” stuff? Can the floor be sanded in the same manner as sanding an oak floor?

To reapply the original finish you'd have to take the floor up and run it through a machine that had ultraviolet curing lights. That's a finish that can only be applied as part of the original manufacturing process.
The advice on refinishing has always been, refinish as for any other floorÑsand and use whatever finish you want. Certainly consider calling the original installer/distributor to seek their advice. Or check web sites of suppliers. Here's two:

*If you're going to sand this flooring, make sure you use a protective breathing mask and treat it the same as you would asbestos. You don't want to be breathing the dust from the adhesives used in China.Gabe
*Thay may be true Gabe, but the only way you'll reach any adhesives is by breaking through the top surface layer and that may be about 1/8- 3/16" of material. If one gets that far, the floor is a goner as you'll also hit the tongue and groove.Correction...bamboo-flooring.com...Try plyboo.com as well
*Unless of course the top layer is fragmented and saturated in glue.Feel lucky, punk. :)Gabe
