Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not a brake on a bandsaw motor is worth having. Does it save blades enough for the extra cost or is there any drawbacks from the brake after it engages?

It's something I have always wanted on my bandsaw ,It's a pain to wait for the saw to stop when you have to back out of cuts etc. I figure somday I'll MCgiver a wood pad that'll rub on the bottom wheel with a lever of some sort.

Doesn't the brake only engage
Doesn't the brake only engage if there is some sort of a problem like a blade breaking or binding?
Do you know of anyone that has one on their saw?

I've got a foot brake on my bandsaw and find it very useful. It isn't an electrical motor brake, when you step on the petal a switch turns off the motor and a manual brake presses on the wheel.
Do you know about the electrical brakes on the motor, whether or not you have to reset the brake and or if because of the function they have a tendency to fail after awhile. Or is it a feature that is very useful and one which you wish that you would have or thankful that you do?
