I am trying to put recessed lighting cans in the ends of my soffits. The bar hangers that came on the cans fit 16″ to 24″ framing members. My onening is only 11 inches. I tried to find shorter bar hangers at local electrical supply stores, box stores and on line. So far I haven’t found any. Does anybody know if anybody makes shorter bar hangers or do I have to make my own? If I have to make my own does anybody have any suggestions on how to go about it?

You can probably cut and use those original hangers or what I might think of is to use remodel housings. They cost a little more, but. Get one, look at how you can utilize it,run your wire and make note where you will cut those holes after sheetrock. Best of luck. Oh, and leave enough wire so you can set that can on the top of your ladder while wiring. Make it easy on yourself. They come in ICT rating also.
