Has anyone had success using basecove adhesive when installing an acrylic or fiberglass tub surround in place of tube adhesives such as LiquidNail’s TubSurround?
Thanks

skip the LN trash and go get ya some FRP cement in a gallon can...
notch trowel it on and drive on...
In another thread DanT just said that he did exactly that.
Don't remember what the thread was.
Ya, I bought that few year old thread up asking him about it but no response yet.
I'm getting due on an install and hate using LN so thought I'd go asking around.

I did not realize that was an old thread.

Ya, I was roaming around for data and came across his post.
I might try IMERC's solution.

Whatever you use make sure it's compatible with the surround. Went to troweling several yrs ago after repairing all the tube adhesive installs of others that failed after a while.
Follow the directions on the glue, let it off gas if they want. It'll be there forever. Give Franklin Adhesives (columbus)Techs a call, they'll steer you right.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Razzman,
That's how we install all of out surrounds. Cove base adhesive, trowel it on with an 1/8" or so trowel and then we use an old rubber laminate roller to go over it once. Holds itself up so you don't need bracing or tape or anything. No marks from the liquid nails eating into the plastic. Nice smooth finish.
In 4 years of doing it we have never had a call back and all of them we have seen years later look great. The only draw back is if you are installing a really cheap 5 piece surround the corners sometimes take a little liquid nails to glue to each other. Sorry I wasn't on sooner, busy day but I sold a kitchen job! DanT
