Basement ductwork in new soffitt
Hey guys,
You all have helped me out before. I am doing a basement for my brother-inlaw. I need to extend a hvac register down about 2 1/2 inches to place in outside a new soffit. How do you do it? I have a couple ideas, but maybe I’m thinking too hard.
Thanks in advance.

Is there room for an offset boot? If not, you may have to cut the metal down 2 1/2" then patch it above the opening. Use the piece you cut off and some aluminum tape, or wait till someone else comes along and corrects half of what I just said. :)

Not sure I understand what you are doing.
Ultimately a good local sheet metal worker can make a transition piece if you show him what you got and what you need. Remember if you are DIY, use some cardboard to play with and devise a solution ... can always take that to the sheet metal man.
How about using a 4 by 10 collar?
Any hvac supply house should have it.

Yep,
I made my own 4x10 collar. I didn't know what to call it, so I made my own. Thanks
