I just moved to MO with my daughter and her family, husband and granddaughter. I am fitting out the walkout basement for them to live in while he goes to school at a local university. The basement is fully carpeted and we will be putting in kitchen cabinets. They have decided to put laminate on the floor of the new kitchen. This means taking up the carpet and putting down the laminate. My question is do I laminate the entire area and put the cabinets on the laminate or put the cabinets in first then lay the laminate or doesn’t it make a difference?
Thanks,
Dennis

Floating floor or affixed to the ground?
I plan on floating the floor, I will know better when I get the carpet up.

If you float the floor, it can not go under the cabinets.
Thanks,
I never thought of that.

lay the flooring throughut the room in the usual manner, then install the cabinets on top, done it many times and never a problem, cabinet weight is not an issue, shim the cabinets as usual, do not fasten the cabinets to the floor
on another point tho, use a top quality vapour barrier type padding, wrapped up thewall acouple of inches(covered later with baseboard) and tape all seams with vapour barrier tape
Thanks Steve, that would make it easier. Now I have two options again.
