Basement wall insullation vapor barrier?
I’ve framed out my exterior basement walls with 2 x 4 walls. They are 8.5 feet high with about 7 feet under grade. Is using paper faced insullation okay? Or should I use unfaced?
Thanks
Roy

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

you can get the best advise from the manufacture on line for free.... use http://www.google.com and ask for residential insulation....go from there...everyone has different ideas for the situation you are facing, however today on the Taunton Press, a simular situation came up, you might also look at their problem with the mold before you close the walls up. Isuggest roxul --stone fiber insulation --if it get wet its not wasted--
also suggest the use of tar paper on the outside of the stud wall .start from th top & work down. layer it like shingles if you get any leaking at least the water will go to the floor. also make sure if you use drywall to keep it 1/2 to 3/4 " of the floor so it will not act as a sponge if you get a leak. & finally use a flooring that will not be damaged by water i.e ceramic or stone ..imho
