A client of mine has bats nesting in the hand split shake roof of his house, and I am wondering if there is a repellant that can be applied periodically to keep them away? I figure installing “bat houses” would be useless at this point because they’ve been there for a couple years and I would imagine a heated roof is more inviting than a cold wooden shack. Any Ideas?

DaveHBathouses will work, just get the ones based on the most current research. You may also want to check out the following organizations. Bat Conservation International, which I believe is based in TX and Organization for Bat Conservation, which is based in MI (I've attended some OBC lectures..they bring LIVE bats..way, WAY cool!). I believe both organizations have websites and I know both Rob and Kim(OBC) have taken phone calls from frantic homeowners.
Beg, plead on your knees if you have to, but make sure your client doesn't kill them. They do much good on the insect control front.Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good w/ketchup.
I am aware how important bats are and I would rather not do anything as drastic as exterminating them unless there is no other recourse. Unfortunately, their "stuff" is oozing out of the walls to the interior of the house. Thanks for the lead, I'll check into them.
