Is there any reason not to use a tap set for a sink on a tub? Would there be a difference in the flow rate? We are doing an addition right now and tapsets for tubs seem to be worth waaay more than sink taps. Just wondering if I can save a few bucks or buy a roman tub tap. Thanks.

Flow ought be same if you take out the aeraror.
A tub set can include the drain mechanism and shower head too.
Seems like you would need a deck mount style tub, and the spout is longer on a tub set.
If you are buying new, buy for what you need, and shop price, not for price to get what you don't need.

Well that really does depend on several factors. Some inspectors look for thermostatically controlled devices, and there are frequently or commonly different flow rates and dimensions for sink taps as compared with tub. All easily determined with either a phone call or a few clicks with a rat or mouse as you will....
I gathered that he is planning a tub only and not a shower, which would require the thermo-safe valve.

there is a difference in the flow rate.
Inspectors here will look for a minimum flow from a tub spout of 4.5 GPM.
I don't think you can get that out of a lav tap.
sully
True, when you look at most lav taps you will see they use tiny pipe so even if you take put the aerator they still dribble compared to a tub tap.
Sounds like I don't get to save any money of the taps for the tub. Fill rate will make a huge difference. I once had a place that took 45 min. to fill the tub. I'll keep looking, maybe find something on sale. Thanks guys.
