I am having a bay window installed in my dining room and have some questions. The bay will be 5′-4” wide, 45 degree angle with the flanker windows being casement type, the inside will be used as a window seat and will be finished in oak.
1. Any recommendations on window brands, Anderson, Pella, Window Master, Milgard?
2. I have 3 bids with 3 different types of construction. One is with “corbels” and a cable system supporting the window, one with a skirt that angles toward the foundation and the third is a skirt that goes straight down to a new foundation that follows the outline of the window. Any recommendations.
3. Is there a standard height that the bay should be off my finished floor?
Any other suggestions or insight from your experience would be helpful. The bay is going to be wider (5′-4″) than the existing window (4′-0″) so ther will be considerable framing work to get it in place. I just want to be sure I am asking all the right questions before I commit to a contractor.
Thanks,

You might put Marvin on your "A" list....I really like their bays.
How the unit is installed is more often than not a function of how you want your house to look (inside and out) when finished.
Don't buy those prefab bay windows. Frame the bay window yourself and install the windows individually. Those prefab bays sag unless you take great measures. You still often have to build a roof and a knee anyway. They are almost as much work for twice the price. The exterior stiles between facets will not match your trim either. I hate them.
I agree with Mike
