Many moons ago, the BT crew helped guide me through several design challenges on our addition project. After one bad archy, 1 fabulous one, and a great builder, we’re finally finished. Despite some early issues, all’s well that ends well. Here’s the before/after.
Sincere thanks to all who shared their 2 cents! It was worth much more.

Glad you enjoyed it Piffin. Your feedback was a big help to us. The finished product is not quite the beautiful gambrel cottages you showed in your photos, but we're happy with it!
It's one worth looking at.As i remember, you had budget concerns.
werre you able to keep eating and still pay for it?

The budget did expand beyond my original expectation (which were probably overly conservative to counter my wife's visions!), but I suppose that's to be expected. We were able to find a builder who priced the job very fairly, and we planned hard and carefully avoided the slippery slope of "while we're at it" upgrades. Continued low interest rates helped too.We were also able to re-side the whole house and replace all the windows, which would have been 2x the price in a couple years if we did it separately. We will also avoid painting the house in the future by switching to vinyl, so that will save future money. At the end of the day, we looked around at what else we could get for the same money, and decided we were much better off in a neighborhood we wanted our kids to be in.
How about some interior shots?

Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Great job.
Liked the way you captured details with sunlight and shadowing in the pix.
