So you are bad like me and forget to take the "before" pic until after?John

Yeah, quite often. But sometimes the actual before picture is unrecognizable by the time we get to the after!

Some guys feel like the before picture isn't that important. But I think it's what allows the prospective client to visualize what was done. Sometimes, if you just show the after, there's a tendency for them to take for granted what was done cause they've seen so many beautiful pics of room interiors and such.Too darn hard to get the before's taken while they are still before's though! It's so worth the time to take the 10-20 minutes needed to get some good pics before you start tearing it apart. Then - you HAVE to take the after pics right before you leave at the end of the job - otherwise the client's will gunk it up with ugly furniture, poor taste or junk.here's a few of my B&A's:http://www.juliantracy.com/RBD%20Remodel%20Jobs/JT
Thanks for sharing that link - my two favorites: the stairs, and the white cabinets against the burgundy walls - very nice!View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com
The stairway was my first one - never had done one before. Well, that's not totally true - I also did one in the basement of the same house - Poplar, paint grade. Nice to have been able to practice on that first.I also did the hardwood flooring throughout the first floor - a handscraped prefinished Maple.I tell you what - if you're not a carpenter when you start a stair railing job, you are when you're finished with it.Bought the Domino for that job specific to join the handrails (well, I was looking for an excuse to buy one anyways...)The cabinet/burgundy - client had moved in to a new house - huge kitchen, but not really enough storage space. I suggested we create a pantry/bar on that blank wall. Was able to get a close enough match on the cabinetry and it tied the kitchen together nicely. Also painted the whole kitchen that burgundy color -amazing how darker paints take the most coats!Julian
The architect who designed our remodel keeps a binder for each job, and the very first thing she does is puts in all the before pics.
We did a Piccasa slide show with them as well - fun to look at every now & then, just to remind ourselves how far we've come (especially when we're in the middle of something that seems like it will never end!).
That one on the left there--that's the one to give your client with the final invoice. I always try to do that!

Now that's an excellent idea! I've noticed how quickly they forget. I hate how some clients try to make me feel like 'the girl who gave in ...on the morning after', lol, once the work is done.View Image “Good work costs much more than poor imitation or factory product†– Charles GreeneCaliforniaRemodelingContractor.com

Nice. Good source for ideas too.
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk. .
